I am currently or have recently co-directed several research projects. My research team is investigating correlates of adults’ literacy proficiencies and practices analyzing data from the Programme for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies. See my CV for links to research reports and publications resulting from this project.

From 2008-11, I co-directed a study of students’ subjective experiences during instruction in high school science classrooms. This project, called Science-in-the-Moment, was funded by a 3-year grant from the National Science Foundation (2008-11). This study generated a substantial database consisting of classroom videos, teacher interviews, and student responses to instruction. These data are available to investigators for secondary analyses.

Another project was devoted to developing and testing the efficacy of an online cognitive tutor, REsearchMentor©. This tutorial was designed to help education and applied social sciences students learn research methods (for thesis and dissertation research). The REsearchMentor© project was funded by a 3-year grant from the National Science Foundation (2008-11).
